In Search of Inner Light: Q+A with Sarah Brayer

In anticipation of Sarah Brayer’s solo exhibition Scintilate (Ronin Gallery, November 2023), I produced a Q+A with the artist for Asian Art Newspaper’s November issue. Sarah Brayer is a Japan-based American woodblock printmaker and paper artist whose work can be found in the permanent collection of the British Museum and National Museum of Asian Art, to name only a few. In the interview we discussed her return to the woodblock print medium, monumental paperworks, upcoming exhibition, and the philosophy guiding her art practice. In addition to formulating questions and framework for the article, I worked closely with the artist to refine her answers.
